What Causes Pins And Needles Throughout Body Upon Coughing?

Hello Doctor, Whenever I get into a coughing attach i have these painful pins and needles shouting through my body,, up my spin lower back and over the chest. It is very painful and I hate coughing because I know I am going to feel more. I have even had little pink cappilliaries showing on my chest as if they are broken. NO ONE HAS HEARD OF THIS. Can you tell me WHY ? Thanks Christine

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pins and needles throughout body upon coughing. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like raynaud's disease anxiety or stress , dehydration , diabetes , sciatica , stroke, multiple sclerosis, brain tumour , vitamin B12 deficiency or cervical spondylosis . Acid reflux can also be one of the reason . I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor may certain tests like blood test , CT scan of brain , ECG and take history to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may refer you to neurologist for brain problem , gastroenterologist for acid reflux and endocrinologist for diabetes . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist for cardiac problem . For now eat light and no spicy specially at night , take antacid after every meal , keep your head elevated while sleeping and drink plenty of water .
