What Causes Persistent Vomiting?

vomiting My husbands has been vomiting off and on since yesterday morning. He can t really keep anything down. He can eat a slice of toast with a thin later of grape jam on it. He is also not really able to keep liquids down, he has been trying to drink ginger ale and water, sometimes it stays down sometimes it doesn t. Any idea what he could have and is there any over the counter medicine he can take?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your husband having vomiting on and off since yesterday morning, unable to keep down anything although trying slice of bread with a thin layer of grape jam, drinking ginger ale and water, wants to know what could be the problem and solution for it.
With the history you have provided, this looks to be due to gastritis and the treatment added would help him:
Domperidone which may need a prescription of a Doctor in your area to stop nausea and vomiting.
PPI like Omeprazole.
Antacid every three hours to have a layer in the stomach.
Soft bland diet once the vomiting stops.
If these measures fail to stop vomiting, he needs to be taken to the ER to get Injectable form of anti-emetic and a PPI.
And intravenous fluid and electrolytes to maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance.
