What Causes Persistent Upper Abdominal Pain?

I am having pain in my upper abdomen. No diarrhea, no constipation, no nausea or vomiting, no fever, just pain. It feels a lot different than if it was a gas bubble. I did notice that it was relieved a little bit after drinking a dose of Purelax, taking acetaminophen and drinking cranberry juice. It got worse after eating solid food.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

These symptoms suggest gastritis. Pain after solid food is quite suggestive of that.

If not for a long time don't worry, I would suggest taking some antacids like Gaviscon 2 spoons 3 times for a few days.

Also, use some acid suppression drugs like Omeprazole once a day for 2 weeks.

Hope it will settle. If not, see your GP for proper assessment and management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
