What Causes Persistent Pin Prick Pain In The Hip?

For the past month I have had a single pin prick pain on my hip. Sometimes the skin runs warm and is a bit hard (size of a tennis ball). It doesn t hurt when I run or exercise, but only when I put pressure. The pin prick is uncomfortable and hasn t gone away but is non stop.
