What Causes Persistent Pain In The Labia Minora?

I have been experiencing pain on my labia minora for a little over a month now. I have been to the doctor due to this and also because I was having pain in between my labia minora and majora as well. He said I wasn t cleaning myself well and suggested to soak in the bathtub daily, which I have been doing faithfully. Thankfully, the pain in between both labias has subsided, but the other pain has not. I have been putting neosporin on the areas, but that hasn t been helping. I have been continuing to take baths, sometimes even with salt or baking soda in the water, but with no results. I was wondering if there was anything you could do to help me? Thanks, Hayley

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

I would prefer if your doctor inspected you in the region to look for any swelling or lumps or cysts. The region is prone to cysts like Bartholin's cyst or scene's gland cysts.

Sitz bathes with epsom salt is certainly recommended, go ahead with warm compresses over the region several times a day as well, and take a mild pain management medication as well. If there is a swelling or cyst that does not subside in the next few days, drainage would be the next best option.

Best wishes.
