What Causes Persistent Pain In The Cheeks Post Injury From A Fall?

I fell on my face spring skiing in Sun Valley, my cheek bone and eye bone is bruised and swollen after 3 months and my head hurts on the side where on landed on my cheek bone, I had an MRI and it revealed no fractures, my cheek still hurts and my eye is slightly sunken, I am not bruised and swollen as I was the first month! What should I do, would you suggest an EEG and neurologist? Plastic surgeon? Thanks!

Hi,

As your MRI had revealed no fracture, I think there is nothing to be worried. Your cheek still hurts and your eye is slightly sunken, you are not bruised and swollen as you were the first month according to your description which indicates your improvement day by day. There may be some tissue swelling due to the injuries can cause pain which will take time to dissolve.

If you have any neurological problems like headache, convulsions, vomiting, disorientation, sudden unconsciousness, vision problems etc., then you can seek help from a neurologist and do as needful. You can take painkillers like Naproxen, Ibuprofen etc., and apply topical Diclofenac cream or any other painkiller topical solution on your affected area.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
