What Causes Persistent Pain In Shoulder Despite Taking Cortisol Shot?

A few months ago I started experiencing shoulder pain that was know an unknown cause. Since then I have to receive a cortisol shot for the pain and it helped for three weeks. Now my pain is back and it is mainly in my collar bone area. The pain is sharp and intense when I inhale, but consistent otherwise. What could this be?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the persistent pain in shoulder may be in concern with various possibilities as

- subacromial joint lesion as osteoarthritis or others
- glenohumoral capsule friction
- tendonitis
- tenosynovitis
- frozen shoulder
- others

In my clinic, after primary check up with range of motion, sensory , motor parameters of the limb, I do recommend an x-ray of the chest with or without MRI of the shoulder for better evaluation and guidelines accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
