Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Pain In Right Side Of Abdomen Despite Taking Gaviscon?
I have been having abdominal pain for the past 4months. Had an abdominal scan, all the way to my bladder ultrasound scan done , and all organs were clear except my rt kidney which was thought to have a mass developing and my liver showed some fat infiltration . The kidney was rescanned in 6-8wks time from initial scan. And was told my rt kidney has no mass, maybe I have acid reflux and told to buy Gaviscon. It has made no difference. My pain is not central upper but more rt sided over my liver and stomach and sometimes middle abdomen. I am in agony , it s dull to sharp but just there. Had a stool sent for h pylori infection but still waiting. But I still have abdominal pain and some days after a whole day in pain I vomit. My head feels heavy from the abdo pain. What could be wrong?. Or rather what are my options I m going crazy with this pain. It s worse evening and night around 2am onwards.
As per my clinical experience, the discrepancy between two scans are very vital as one is showing renal mass and another is clearing it without any sort of surgery. If available with you, kindly provide me the scanned copies of both of the Ultrasound scans during next follow up discussion.
Many of the cases do need a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis for the final confirmation and further guidelines.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
