What Causes Persistent Heart Burn?

I have been experiencing heartburn for the last 3 days, which is very unusual for me. I very rarely have heartburn and can eat anything. Today, I have been having a come & go feeling down in my esophagus that feel like I swallowed something without chewing it up completely. It starts small then swells in intensity then fades away. Happens maybe every other minute. Weird. Kinda feels like a hot coal down there.

Hello and welcome to HCM.
The symptoms you are describing are suggestive of so called GERD = gastro-esophageal reflux disease.
Sometimes it is triggered by some food you ate or by medications you took or sometimes it just develops without apparent cause.
The reason for GERD is the lowering of the pressure in the lower esophageal sphincter = loosening of the muscle which is usually tight around the bottom of the esophagus and prevents the corrosive acid from the stomach from entering the esophagus.
Wishing you the best of health.
