What Causes Persistent Headaches Despite Keflex Injection?
I went to my dr today and tested positive for strep. I have had a severe headache for over 24hrs with no relief. I ve taken Tylenol for fever and headache. Dr gave me an antibiotic injection and a Keflex Rx. Dr. Said antibiotic would help headache when it kicks in. No relief yet. ?
You have not mentioned site of your strep. infection.Mostly it could be sore throat like pharyngitis infection secondary to viral infection. It can lead to reffered headache.Treat it with antibiotic.
Meanwhile antibiotic take its action you can use analgesic prescribed by doctor for pain relief.
Avoid triggering factors for headache like..... -Smoking -Dehydration -Inadequate sleep -Alcohol -Hypoglycemia -Loud noise -Bright light etc.
Take enough rest.
Muscle relaxation and massage useful.
Lavender oil topical application could be useful.
Wish you good health. Don't worry you will recover within few days.
If still not improving then search for other causes by history and physical examination like measuring blood pressure for hypertension, gastric history for rule out hepatitis like condition.
Take care
