What Causes Persistent Cramps In Hips Radiating Towards Knees?

For about 3 years, I have experienced cramping from my hips down to my knees -- equally on both sides -- when I am standing. Recently, even when I am lying in bed in one position, then try to roll over or change positions, the cramping is severe. It settles down in a minute or so, after the cramp relaxes.

Dear friend I am Dr Kingson would like to answer your questions

Cramps in leg is mainly due to electrolytes disturbance. If there is sweating you will have cramps.
Please rule out possibility of lumbar disc prolapse as it cause nerve trapment.

Hope this is useful
