Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a persistent cough with no phlem for about 4 weeks. No fever, no other symptoms. Same thing happened last year at this time lasting about 2months. My dr has me on Albuterol with a nebulizer, Flovent diskus, and a pro air inhaler. I am not getting any relief. My chest X-rays are clear and with a stethoscope all is clear. I have asked for a referral to a pulmonary dr! My internet doesn t seem concerned because she says it is an asthmatic response to bronchitis. What more can I do for relief? Will a pulmonary dr be able to do anything more?
A persistent cough without any fever can be due to the allergic response to anything you daily encounter. It all depends on taking detail history and examining you head to toe to find out what is wrong.
You can get your blood tests done and eosinophils count done so that to know your body is responding to allergy or not.
Just note if you have fever or evening rise of temperature or fatigue, weight loss, all this might turn up our diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
