What Causes Persistent Cough After Switching From Amiodarone To Flecainide?

My husband was taking amiodorone and metropolole for approx 9 months and was then switched to flecanicide instead of amiodorone. Shortly thereafter, he developed a persistent, nonproductive cough. Could this be related to the drug combination? He does not cough consistently, but a few times an hour all day.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

A cough is not related to his routine drugs. If symptoms persist he can consult a physician and get evaluated. As of now, expectorant cough syrups can be taken for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
