What Causes Persistent Bitter Burning Taste In The Mouth?
I have a major ear infection but also had dental crowns (6) placed 5 days ago. I have a bitter burning taste in my mouth with GI upset but my gums are not swollen. I did have some spill over cement scrapped off today but this bitter taste is so annoying. I can t figure out of its the cement from 5bdays ago or my ear infection. I have had this tatse on and off for 5 days.
As per your complain it seems that bitter taste in mouth can be very much due to the taste of the cement in mouth. However it can also be due to ear infection as ear and throat are connected via Eustachian tube. As the cement is scraped off and in case if the taste still persist then it can be probably due to either ear infection or if you are taking any medication to cure your infection, it can also be a cause.
I would suggest you to wait and watch for 3-4 days and if there is still no improvement consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated. As of now to mask bad taste you can gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash. Chew flavoured sugar free chewing gum.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
As per your complain you have problem of bitter taste in mouth. Excessive cement around crown portion may lead to bitter taste in mouth. Gastroesophageal reflux disease may cause abdominal problems with change a taste of mouth. Vitamin B deficiency may cause burning sensation in mouth.
