What Causes Persistent Bad Breath Despite Good Oral Care?

My 9 year old daughter has very bad breath despite good oral hygiene. The dentist says she is doing everything right, yet her breath constantly smells awful, even minutes after brushing her teeth, flossing and using mouthwash. What could be the cause of this?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain bad breath can be due to a number of causes like poor oral hygiene, oral and dental infections, sinus infection, tonsil stones, digestive problems, nasal infections, excess intake of high aroma foods like garlic and onions..
At times no underlying definite cause is ruled out..
She can chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gums that will help in increasing saliva flow as well as mask bad breath..
Gargling with flavoured mouthwash will help..
Drink plenty of water..
Do regular warm saline gargles..
Avoid high aroma foods like onion and garlic..
Get checked for tonsil stones and sinus infections by an ENT..
In case if bowels are not regular consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
