Hi,

There are various reasons why a bacterial infection may persist despite taking Flucloxacillin. One possible reason is that the infection is caused by a type of bacteria that is not susceptible to the antibiotic. This can happen if the bacteria have developed resistance to the antibiotic, or if the antibiotic is not effective against the particular strain of bacteria causing the infection.

Another reason could be that the infection is located in an area that is difficult for the antibiotic to reach, such as deep tissues or bone. In this case, a different antibiotic may be needed, or additional treatments such as drainage or surgery may be necessary.

It is also possible that the dose or duration of the antibiotic is not sufficient to fully treat the infection. Your mother's doctor may need to adjust the dosage or prescribe a longer course of treatment to ensure that the infection is fully eradicated.

It is important to follow the full course of antibiotics as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance and ensure complete resolution of the infection. If your mother's symptoms do not improve or worsen even after completing the full course of antibiotics, it is important to follow up with her doctor for further evaluation and management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

Pain and swelling around the incision site on the ankle after surgery may be caused by several factors. In your case, it sounds like there may be some inflammation or infection present, which could be contributing to your symptoms.

It is important to see a healthcare provider for an evaluation if you are experiencing pain, swelling, or other symptoms after surgery. They can perform a physical exam and order any necessary tests to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Applying heat to the affected area may help to reduce pain and inflammation, but it is important to avoid applying heat directly to the incision site. Instead, use a warm compress or take a warm bath to help relax the muscles and promote circulation.

Taking antibiotics without a prescription from a healthcare provider is not recommended, as it can lead to antibiotic resistance and other complications. Instead, talk to your healthcare provider about any concerns you have regarding your medication regimen.

Your healthcare provider may recommend additional treatments such as physical therapy, pain management, or surgery to help address your symptoms and promote healing. They can also guide when it may be safe to resume normal activities and return to work.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
