What Causes Patches On Skin Despite Using Hhsalic Ointment?

Hello Doctor, My son was suffering from skin allergy and when consulted an Allergy specialist, he recommended to apply HH SALIC ointment to apply for week with some vitamin tablets. He has been applying it for a week. the itching had stopped but the skin marks remain the same. Please advise if he can eat chicken and other non veg items. Also, does he require some more medication.

Hi,

It is difficult to provide a definitive answer without a proper examination and diagnosis by a qualified medical professional. However, skin allergies can have various causes, such as exposure to allergens, irritants, stress, infections, and underlying medical conditions.

HHSALIC ointment is a combination medication that contains salicylic acid and steroids. It is commonly used to treat various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. The steroid component can help reduce inflammation and itching, while the salicylic acid can help exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells. Although, this medicine may not be effective always and for all skin conditions.

Regarding your question about eating chicken and other non-veg items, there is no clear evidence that these foods can worsen skin allergies. However, some people may have specific food allergies that can trigger skin reactions. It is best to consult a doctor or a qualified nutritionist to determine any dietary restrictions or recommendations.

It is recommended to follow up with the allergy specialist or a dermatologist for further evaluation and treatment. They may recommend additional tests, such as allergy tests or skin biopsy, to determine the underlying cause of the skin patches. In some cases, other topical or oral medications may be necessary to treat the skin condition effectively.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
