What Causes Palpitations While On Digoxin?

I just received a new prescription for digoxin 0.125 mg & was take off diltiazem hcl er 120 mg. I m concerned about dosage & side effects. I ve had all tests including stress,heart monitor etc. my heart is just bating too fast otherwise heart is healthy. How do you feel about medicine switch?

Hi,
Digoxin will actually decrease the heart rate in most patients over long term. That is the normal effect based on its action on heart. I do hope the switch will work out for you and should have been done based on the investigations and clinical condition.
Digoxin can also increase the heart rate and lead to palpitations at times. This side effect is highly uncommon.
