What Causes Palpitations And Discomfort In Chest After Tonsils Surgery?

Hi, My 13 year old son had his tonsils removed 13 days ago. He has always been very healthy and plays sports. On day 2 of the surgery, he had a cough and a lot of congestion. The dr. recommended taking Musinex. The cough cleared up. Beginning on day 8 or so, he started feeling a wierd feeling in his chest. He says it feels like his heart will beat faster and then return to normal. This happens off and on throughout the day while at rest. Is this a normal?

Hi
No it's not normal and his doctor needs to know about it

He may have a supraventricular tachycardia arrhythmia condition and he needs a Holter monitor--a 24/7 EKG--to check it out
