What Causes Palpitations After Receiving A Cortisone Injection?

My doctor gave me a cortizone injection in my neck yesterday in an attempt to dissolve scar tissue. This is the the 3rd injection in 6 months. I woke up at 3 a.m., could not go back to sleep, and my heart is racing to the point of hurting. I d like to know how long to expect these side effects, and how long cortizone stays in your system. Thanks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Cortisone is a steroid drug and in some individuals it may cause palpitations immediately after the shot. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by it own in few hours. Cortisone is a fast acting drug and it will get removed from the body soon. As of now no treatment is required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
