What Causes Painfully Swollen Red Lump On The Lower Leg?

I received what I think was a bug bite about a week ago. It caused a bump with redness around it. The next day it started to swell and become painful. I started taking doxycycline on the third morning. But by then the swelling became severe and pitting over my lower leg. After 5 days of abx. and keeping my leg elevated as much as possible, the wound is finally healing. But I have a few areas of redness and swelling on my lower leg that still persist. I am worried about a parasitic infection although, I haven t left the country and live in central Alabama.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, what the condition and symptoms you have described here may not be due to any insect bite but it could be some allergic condition some time it may be some kind of infection I would suggest to have antihistamine and anti-inflammatory drugs and best would be Tab Ibuprofen 200 mg three times in day and Tab Levocetirizine 10 mg three times in day hope this information helps.
I find this answer helpful
