What Causes Painful Spot And Swelling Above The Ankle?

I am a 60 yr old female and have recently started a job that requires me to stand for long periods of time. I have developed a painful spot just above the ankle bone. The spot is slightly swollen, and appears to have small broken veins. The pain is worse when toes are moved up and down, it feels as if something is pulling on the spot. Any ideas for some relief. I have recently started to wear a support stocking, but not much help so far.

I really appreciate your concern, long time standing position in this age is not good and it may causes the circulatory disturbances it is advisable to quit the job if it is possible, till the have some break in between the working hours and sit for some time, keep the leg in elevated position, systemic disease need to be ruled out like cardiac and renal disease, endocrine disease, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
