Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 16. He is ADHD and takes vyvanse 70 mg and also has gout for which he takes allopuronal. He is 5'6". Weight 180 . he has a pimple like bump inside his navel. He said it hurts. Its is red and looks like is has pus inside. What do you think we should do?
Dear worried mom, From description it appears to be an acne like swelling in the belly button, which is common in teenager boys, specially if they are hairy. Please do not worry so much. Visit a surgeon who shall drain it, dress it up and prescribe antibiotics for 5 days and all shall be well. Till then you may give it hot fomentation, which will relieve swelling and if it bursts, clean it with savlon and cotton and dress it with bandaid. Visit GP for a short course of antibiotics, keeping in mind about gout. Do not take any OTC pain killers as they are not recommended for patients of gout.
