What Causes Painful Red Bump On Abdomen Oozing Pus Upon Popping?
Hello! Ive have a weird red bump on my lower abdomen about 2 weeks ago and it started to look / hurt like an ingrown hair that turned out to have pus in it so i popped it, it don t got worse when it swelled and turned more red, now i have a few red bumps / rashes in the surrounding areas. Should i be concerned/ need medical attention?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I will keep a possibility of Furuncle/Boils. Furuncle is a bacterial infection of the skin and soft tissue; the infection gaining entry through the hair follicle. The best way to approach in your case is to start on an empirical oral antibiotic for a week OR 10 days (My choice of oral antibiotic would have been either flucloxacillin OR Cephalexin OR Cefadroxil). Oral antibiotics are prescription drugs. I suggest you to talk to your doctor for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as appropriate prescription. An OTC antibacterial cream/ointment e.g 2% mupirocin can be applied twice daily. An OTC pain killer e.g ibuprofen once or twice daily would help you deal with the pain. Use an antibacterial soap for your daily bath.
