Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I had an accident 20 years ago and had to have my bottom lip stitched .over the last 2 months I have developed 3 lumps on my bottom lip 1 under the scar and 2 either side of it. They can sometimes be painful if bitten or pressed hard enough. Have you any ideas what they could be and can they be treated Thank you
As per your query lumps on lips after stitches is because of hypertrophic scar formation which occur because of overproduction of collagen due to which skin raised above normal level and when it got bitten or pressed it causes pain and at times bleeding because of pimple or lump like growth.
This condition will resolve at times with in 2-3 weeks. I would suggest you to visit dermatologist or plastic surgeon for this condition. Treatment option will be dermaabrasion i.e removing of that skin layer, chemical peeling, laser treatment or plastic surgery.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
