I have a bump right on top of my ear where the ear meets the scalp and it hurts really bad especially when I touch it. When I lay down I have to lay slowly because it hurts with any little touch. Sometimes it would just randomly start hurting. Can someone please let me know what this is and when will it go away.
As per your query you have painful bump on the top of ear. Well there can be many reasons for lump in ear like infection also known as otitis externa , cyst , swollen lymph node or hematoma from minor injury. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist and get it examined. Doctor will examine with otoscope and order test like CT scan , MRI or x-ray to confirm diagnosis and rule out other causes. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics for at least 10 days , remove with the help of suction device or remove it surgically . For now keep your ear dry and apply dry warm compresses to external ear .
