About three weeks ago I fell and cut the bottom of my right foot. after about an hour the top of my foot really started to hurt. By the next morning it was pretty swollen. I do home care for my older sister who is bed-ridden so I m always running around for her every day. The swelling wont go away and by night time it is so swollen it hurts. what do you recommend I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi. you might have an infection die to the cut you got. this would be more so if it is red and tender. inspect your wound and see if there is any discharge. clean the wound with soap and water, dry it and apply betadine or any antiseptic solution. if you can elevate your leg when sitting and put less weight on it. you need to see a doctor to inspect it as soon as possible. oral antibiotics might be needed.
