Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 19 year old grandson had a seizure last night at college, they transported him to the ER room the paramedics said it looked to be from drugs. My grandson is not a drug addict and his blood and urine testing confirmed that. Also his sugar was normal at 115. This is the first ever he has had. The ER doctors said it was just weird. they recommend that he follow up with a neurologist and a cardiologist, can you tell what they may be looking for? Today he is very tired and sore, along with pain while breathing. i am not able to be there until Tuesday, as I have a chemo treatment.. I just would like some answers or hints.
Let us start the assess from the simple factors that may cause pain while breathing & tiredness. It can be due to severe anxiety & panic attacks. GERD, Esophageal hypersensitivity, peptic ulcers.
Others factors can be asthma, pleuritis, pneumonia, congenital heart problem, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis or some developing CAD.
Get him examined by a cardiologist, get required tests done to rule out any developing heart or lung problem. A neurologist will assess the factor that might have caused seizure which may have occurred due to an abnormal amount of glucose or sodium in the blood. He will help to rule out some brain tumor or brain infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
