Hi I am having pain under my right rib cage. I can t take a deep breath, it hurts when I move to the other side. I thought it was gastro intestinal. I took Gas Ex and Tums, plus I take Prilosec at night. I hurts in my chest too, It feels like a big gas bubble under my ribs and chest but has lasted about 12 hours. Thank you , Sharon YYYY@YYYY
Your symptoms suggestive of more towards musculoskeletal pain rather than gastric pain or gas. You are having pain while breathing and while turning to one side. Hence muscular strain seems more likely. You can be prescribed anti-inflammatory drug for 5 days.
Avoid strenuous activities and take rest. Avoid movement that causing pain. You can Consult physician once for examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
