What Causes Pain Under The Breast Bone That Radiates To The Stomach?

Symptoms have been happening for several weeks, they can happen day or night. They include pain under the breast bone that goes across the top of stomach, lasts for a few hours. Have had one really bad attack that nearly sent me to the ER. Have had an ultra sound, I have gallbladder stones. Am I doing thr right thing by having my gallbladder removed? I am scheduled for next week.

Hi,

The pain you mentioned is very classical of gallstones, which is also confirmed by ultrasound. As there is no medical treatment for gallstones and you are symptomatic as well, the best strategy is to have the gall bladder removed by surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Zahir Shah,
