What Causes Pain Unde The Arms And Wrists?

I occasionally have a strong aching sensation under my arms that follows down to my wrists. It hurts, but subsides in a few minutes. Once it happened in my left leg. I am a 79 year old woman in good health, not overweight, don t drink or smoke and walk 2 miles 4 - 5x / wk. What could be happening? Thanks, Ann W.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to rheumatoid arthritis. I suggest doing an X-ray of the shoulder and wrists to confirm the diagnosis.

Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day to relieve the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
