What Causes Pain, Soreness And Itchiness In The Throat?

difficulty swallowing; very sore throat; itchy and somewhat painful throat when not swallowing. have a virus and seen MD today and glands and throat were fine; just reported sore throat. has gotten progressively worse in last hour after eating pasta with tomatoes and red wine.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
You are probably suffering from Pharyngitis(inflammation in the throat).
You may get relief by taking the following medications:
Antibiotic like Azithromycin,
Analgesic with Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen,
Antacid like Rantac.

Do warm saline gargles.Avoid spicy,oily food.Drink lots of fluids.
