Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having pain in the tip of my big toe. Sometimes it is also I m both big toes, but mostly in one. It only hurts at night when I go to bed. Is this gout?I have a blood test that reveled that I have a slight level od uric acid. My doctor didn t recommend anything to do now.
Short answer: Commonest cause for pain at tip of toe is injury to skin, nerves, bone, blood vessel due to ingrown toe nails, callouses, corns or blisters.
Detailed answers: Gout is a disease that affects joints so it is highly unlikely that a pain at the tip of toe is due to gout as there is no joint involved there. Uric acid levels in blood are affected by the food we eat prior to the test. So a diet rich in proteins will result in more uric acid levels in blood. Hope this answers your query. Thank you.
