What Causes Pain On The Outside Part Of The Lower Leg?

I have pain on the front and outside (not inside) of my lower leg. I do not run, play racquetball. tennis, or other sports that would put stress on my shins. I did walk playing golf three days ago, it is not unusual for me to walk. I am 63 years old and I have never had shin splints before. Do I have shin splints now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an over use of the muscles of the leg. I suggest using anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day. I also suggest to use magnesium supplements and rest. The symptoms will go away gradually.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
