Forceful expulsion of the stool can lead to the following causing pain:
Muscles may get strained near the kidney area and thus cause pain.
If there is
colitis, this can be a pain of spasm of colon that can linger on.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Try to move the torso one to another angle or side and if the pain is present, this is most likely to be muscular; get
Ibuprofen if it suits you for the pain and swelling relief.
If the pain is of colon origin, you may need a proper treatment with
Metronidazole and antispasmodic.
If there is still no relief, then go for the tests of blood, stool and urine, who knowns there can be a associated problem with the kidney on left side.
Ultrasonography and other tests like
colonoscopy may be needed if there is no complete relief within a few days to get hte exact cause and get treated accordingly.
