What Causes Pain In Upper Part Of Left Thigh?

Have pain in upper part of left thigh, doctor has checked for hernia and sent me for a scan to check for blood clot, both negative. Recommended physical therapy that has not helped and seems to have worsened aching soreness. Standing and/or walking increases discomfort.

Hi

I have gone through your query.

What you have described sounds like a hip flexor tightness. This is caused with some types of sports like running, football, and exercise.
Usually, stretching can help with this. I find using a RICE therapy for treatment best for this. Here is what you can try
Rest the area and should not allow for worsening the information
Ice the area for 10 to 15 mins at a time
Compress the area or use a massage to help
Elevate the leg above the pillow to reduce swelling and return the blood to the heart.

In case the pain persists, getting an ultrasound done over the area would be useful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
