What Causes Pain In Upper Left Side Of The Chest After Doing Arm Exercise?

Hello - I have been having pain in the left upper side corner of my breast near the center of my chest. It comes and goes. Sometimes it happens after certain movements. I have recently started doing arm exercises with weights and thought it might be because of that. Sad to say that I have not exercised in many, many years, but made a lifestyle change about 6 months ago. The pain comes and goes - sometimes at night. What do you think? Thank you, Cathy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a strained muscle.

I suggest getting done an electrocardiogram to exclude cardiac causes.

I suggest using Acetaminophen to relieve the pain.

I also recommend avoiding overuse of the muscles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
