What Causes Pain In Thighs When Diagnosed With Arthritis And Bulging Discs?

I have pain in both thighs above the knee. Muscle feels swollen and fatigued. Right is slightly worse than left. I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my right knee and bulging discs L4-5 and L 5- S1. Pain is worse through the day and when walking and standing. Advil 400 mg. takes the edge off sometimes but no relief. Pain is present in am after lying down for 8 hours.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The pain in the thighs could be related to arthritis in the right knee and/or the bulging discs in the lower back. The muscles in the thighs may be compensating for the weakness or pain in the knee and / or lower back. The fatigue may also be related to this compensation. It is recommended to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the exact cause of the pain and to develop an appropriate treatment plan. They may recommend physical therapy or other interventions to address the underlying condition causing the pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
