What Causes Pain In The Wrists And Forearms Despite Taking Ibuprofen And Naproxen?

I woke up yesterday morning with pain and weakness in both wrists and forearms. No trauma or unusual usage recently. I ve taken ibuprofen and naproxen, but it hasn t helped with the pain. I think this must be what it feels like to be arthritic. Any ideas on what might be the problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Welcome to HCM , thanks for query.
As you did not mention your age and gender as these things are important for diagnosis.
Any way pain may be due to these possibilities.
1 Arthritis , as you mentioned , so get blood for R A Factor ( rheumatoid arthritis ) , may be due to gout ( blood for uric acid ).
2 Trauma ( stress or sprain ) , as both wrist involve and pain is also in forearm , so may be due to some very hard work or pulling of any thing by both hand.
3 Deficiency of calcium , if you are female and age is around 55 years .
Diagnosis can be confirmed by blood examination for calcium and Vitamin D3.
So iburpofen and naproxen are only symptomatic relief providers , so consult or deal as mentioned above.
Hope this will be useful for you.
If further any question I will reply happily.
Good luck.
