What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen?

Hello, I have a question about my 16 year old son s abdominal pain. it seems like he is complaining of such pain more often than normal. the pain is located in the upper quad and he says it feels achy . He was diagnosed w acid reflex a few years ago, took omeprazole for a short while then stopped taking his meds. His dr. has him back on it as of yesterday. They did a work up on him and we are awaiting results. It s been over 24 hours now, and I still have not heard anything yet. Should I be concerned?
