What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen On The Right Side?
i have hep c and i am having pain in the upper right side of my stomach that has under my right shoulder blade and rib cage tender to the touch. i feel really bloated. im not sure if its fever ive had the last couple of nights or if its night sweats. is there anything that i can do at home or what should i do to get any relief from this discomfort?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Since he pain is in the upper right side of abdomen in line with right shoulder blade and also tender to touch the most probable cause can be costochondritis or rib inflammation as hepatitis-C is not known to give any painful or tender swelling in such a way. The best way to get a proper diagnosis is as follows: Get a clinical evaluation and examination, preferably by a General Surgeon. Ultrasonography of the abdomen helps further to rule out any pathology in liver or gall bladder. Tests of blood, particularly CBC, liver and kidney functions helps further. There is nothing you can do at home except take a warm fomentation, apply rubefacient locally, take rest and avoid any movement or activities that instigate or enhance the pain and tenderness.
