What Causes Pain In The Throat?

I get a horrible sensation when i drink-like theres a big lump in my throat. doesn t happen when i eat , only when i swallow or drink. It is intermittent, so i don t know when it will occur but is very uncomfortable. Had for around 2 weeks now and I hate it!

Hi,

It may be due to pharyngitis or enlarged tonsil. As the first line of management, you can start on a short course of antibiotics preferably Amoxiclav.

Do warm saline gargles and you can take analgesics like acetaminophen for symptomatic relief.
