What Causes Pain In The Testicle And Groin Area?

I have have moderate pain in my testicles and in my groin area for the last 3 weeks. Earlier it used to be more in the left testicle but now I feel pain in both. It usually stops when I lie down but tonight it is persistent. After the first week I did my urine test. It was normal but showed some pus cells, though in normal range. I took Zifi 100 for 5 days. Nothing much changed. But it did go away for a couple of days during the third week. It has recurred now and doesn t seem to go away although I m on a combiflam. My left testicle feels a bit swollen but I m not very sure. I ve been sexually active for quite sometime. For the past 3 months I ve been having intercourse without a condom. And my wife does have UTI on and off. Do you think I too have UTI?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for query .Based on the symptoms like pain in testicle ,burning urination swelling of testicle I would say that you have acquired infection of the Testis(Orchitis) secondary to UTI which is transmitted through UTI that your wife has since a long time .

Though you have taken ample of antibiotics it is likely that the causative organisms may not be sensitive to antibiotics that have been prescribed .

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Ultrasound Scanning of Scrotum .

In the mean while start taking broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkalizer thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water .To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
