What Causes Pain In The Tailbone After Injury?

I fell on my tailbone last week. I have been I m terrible pain yesterday and today. The last two nights I have set in my recliner watching the olympics. I am sure the pressure against my tailbone in the chair has caused my pain. Is there anything I can do to lessen the pain. I have taken tylenol and rubbed the pain area with a pain relieving cream for muscle pain. ihave still been sitting in my chair with pillows around , be hind, and under me until i could find comfort. the pain doest seem any better when i get up and walk around. Is there anything else i can do? I will be 82 in two weeks.
