What Causes Pain In The Stomach While On Plavix?

My husband has been taking Plavix for a year now because of a minor heart attack. When he first started taking the medication it made him very sick to the stomach. The doctor said he had to take it but added Omeprazole Magnesium to take the pain away from the stomach. This helped but he is still bothered mildly. The other day he got very sharp pains in the stomach. He had been reaching as he was putting siding on a house. In your opinion, if he continues to take the Plavix will he have more pains in his stomach and could it be damaging his intestines or stomach permanently

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your husband symptoms seem to be related to side effects of Plavix. I suggest using daily gastroprotector such as Omeprazole.

Plavix does not cause any permanent damages, so you should not be worried.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
