Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, Foot pain- I have a ligament or something (I think) that goes across the top of my right foot that occasionally begins to hurt, not really when I go barefoot or wear a flip flop or low vamp shoe, but when I wear a higher vamp shoe that touches it, it can hurt to the point I can hardly walk. Even a flat shoe or boot with a vamp that goes midway or more up my foot seems to aggravate it. Any thoughts? Karen
Your foot pain is related to the things you wear for feet, is aggravated by a particular shoe. This means there is local inflammation of the dorsum of the foot.
The most probable causes are:
-Tenosynovitis.
-Inflamed small joints.
-Bone overgrowth.
-Tumor or so.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
-Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and X-ray of the affected area.
-MRI if soft tissue involvement is expected to cause the pain.
This will allow the exact diagnosis and thus help for an appropriate management. Till then stop using the shoes that cause pain. Give rest to the area. Take anti-inflammatory medications as required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
