What Causes Pain In The Navel?

What would make you have pain in your belly button. It s like something is pulling on it. It happened when I urinated and then my back started hurting. In the lower middle of my back. It hurts so badly, I m almost ready to go to the hospital. The pain is not going away. And now I am getting pain going down the front part of my right leg in the thigh area.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I understand your concern.

The pain you described is typical of uretric or kidney stone,in your case,it is right sided.

If I were your treating doctor,I recommend,
-Anti spasmodic tablet mefenamic acid/dicyclomine twice a day for 3 days.
-Drink plenty of water.Minimum 8-10 glasses of water a day.It may help in flushing out of stone if it is small enough.
-Can take cranberry juice that would alkalinize your urine to help dissolve stone
-Adequate bed rest advised.
If the pain persists for more than 3 days inspite of all these measures, get USG abdo and urinanalysis done.
Depending upon location, size, number of stones and condition of kidney and ureters, further steps can be taken.Invasive procedures can be done.
If there is evidence of infection in urine test, empirical antibiotic therapy like cipro may be given for 7-10 days.
All these things needs consultation from urologist.

Hope I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
