What Causes Pain In The Lower Back And Around The Kidney Area?

I had blood work, the Dr. Said my kidneys were fine. I have been on Gabapentin for almost a year and my kidneys started hurting and I noticed blood in my urine the dr. said I had UTI, funny thing is I came home from hospital almost a year ago with a UTI which I had never had before. I have had it twice now. My lower back in the kidney area continues to hurt and I feel like I need to go to the bathroom all the time, but only go a small amount. What do you think?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms which you are suffering from does indicates urinary tract infection. If you would have come to me i would have advised you to get your ultrasonography kidneys ureter and bladder( to rule out renal stone) done along with urine complete examination and while I wait for the lab report i would have started you on cranberry juice extract twice daily to relieve your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
