What Causes Pain In The Left Wrist And Swelling On The Thumb?

I started having pain in my left wrist area last Saturday. The area is on the palm side, just above the wrist (toward the elbow) and on the thumb side (rather than in the center). It seemed to get better with a bit of ice. but then got worse again. It is slightly swollen and the skin in the area is now red. The pain radiates toward the hand a bit. Not terribly painful, just aches a bit and tender to the touch. Wondering if I should see a Dr. or just see what happens with some time. Thanks.

Hi

I would highly recommend getting an X-ray done to rule out any bony injury. Pain and swelling can also be due to soft-tissue injury.
If it comes out to be a soft-tissue injury, immobilization in a splint can be helpful.
