What Causes Pain In The Left Upper Arm?

My left upper arm has been aching for no obvious reason for the past couple weeks, making it hard to write (I m left handed). This afternoon I started to ache all over and am assuming it s a cold coming on. However, having been lying down for the past hour or so my BP is 180/90. :o/.
